When I dip, you dip

Ah the glorious, glorious Super Bowl. That beautiful day of the year filled to the brim with dips and football and friends and more dips. We dipped to such a magnitude that I went to bed curled into a tight fetal position, so full and moaning so loudly. And yet... smiling in painful contentment.

(Steelers vs. Packers potato skins via Noble Pig. No, I didn't make them because I'm not completely disgusting but oh.my.god. this woman is ballsy.)

This year's Sunday o' Glory seemed to be better than normal. Maybe it was the actually good football game? Maybe it was the amazing food? Or maybe it was because I didn't have to leave my apartment or get out of my pajamas. (I didn't really mean for that to happen. About an hour into the party I realized I hadn't looked in the mirror all day...or put on a bra. WHOOPS.)

THE FOOD: because I know you're dying to know... the winning house guest of the night brought an out of this world homemade artichoke dip AND buffalo chicken/cheddar/blue cheese dip while the formidable contender brought the always classic and delicious Velveeta/Rotel crock pot sensation dip. At halftime we ushered in the "real food"- my buffalo chicken meatballs (SOOO good, snag the recipe HERE) and a fresh from the freezer batch of tater tots. We ended the meal of meals with chocolate chip cookies with an oreo center.

Moving on.

THE COMMERCIALS: At Casa de Wilinsky, we like to keep things entertaining so we made commercial score cards. Highly recommended fun for all. My favsies of the night:

Everyone's favorite, I love it too:

Phenomenal:

It's not very high on any best commercial list but I think it's hysterical. ECO ECO ECO.

Obvi loved it:

And my winner... someone please give the person who thought of this campaign an award. And I love the song.

THE PERFORMANCES:

Can we just talk about Christina for a minute? I hate her normally. Ever since she stopped wearing chaps and bad extensions, she's really lost her appeal but I was handing it to the sister on Sunday night. Her face seemed to be less puffy, her outfit looked nice and boy oh boy can that girl belt a tune. I was basically saying amen by the end of the song. Then Lyricpocolypse happened and that was that. It's the most watched game in the history of television, can't we all back off if she was a little nervous!? I never know the lyrics to songs! So what! Blah blah blah. And now there's a whole smear campaign about how she's spiraling out of control and she's a drunk. Come on people! She sounded great! Can't we please move on? Don't worry Christina, I got your back.

Besides the horrible, horrible quality of audio...I was very pleasantly surprised with the halftime show. Good use of space, great cameo's, great song selection. I stayed entertained, I danced, I sang. And while I still pine for the days of MTV-produced Britney Spears dance numbers and nipple slips, this felt like the good ole days were back and I was sincerely happy about it.

But let's be honest, it was probably just Fergie's diamond encrusted football pad costume that got me all excited- if I got to wear sparkles, I'd totally play more sports.

Braless host+ tater tots = IS THIS WHY I'M SO POPULAR?

Merry Khristmas!

Go ahead and judge me but I am positively obsessed with the Kardashian's newly released Christmas card. (Khristmas kard?). It's not a secret that I'm a lover of trashy pop culture and the K clan really encapsulates it all. Some say they're famous and act entitled for no reason but I say pish posh- they have talent, people. Their uber-family boasts an Olympic athlete, a star NBA player, asses the size of Montana, milky skin and the ability to shamelessly promote themselves in such a way that marketing books should seriously devote whole chapters to them.

If I was really good at photoshop and had a significant amount of time on my hands (I'm not and I don't) I would superimpose my family's faces onto theirs and distribute this as the Wilinsky family Hannukah card. I would be Khloe because how fierce does she look in that dress? My mom would obviously be Kris and Ben would be baby Mason. Sophie would then be placed on all remaining family members. My Dad would be Lamar because that would be funny...

Oo oo that reminds me of a random Wilinsky family story:
One of my mom's favorite stories from Ben's childhood is how he came home from preschool one day with a picture he made. All the kids were asked to cut images out of magazines to represent their family members and glue them to a piece of paper. My 4 year old brother cut out a very large black man to represent my Dad. She had it hanging up in her office for years after.

I think it should also be mentioned here... however annoying Keeping up with the Karshians is (Kris should permanently be banned from the show in my opinion) Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami is the single best reality show that's been on TV in years. I would like that show and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to air 24 hours a day, Truman Show style, so I can just watch their whole lives and pretend I'm friends with everyone.

Ps- my thoughts on the photo in no particular order:
1) It looks like a painting not a photograph the way that they all are so airbrushed
2) Khloe looks the fiercest out of everyone. Rock it girl.
3) Whichever semi-creepy younger sister that is on the left hand side SHE LOOKS LIKE A STRAIGHT UP ALIEN.
4) I want to eat Mason's cheeks for lunch
5) Scott is wearing monogramed slippers

UPDATED: I probably should have posted the rest of these pictures earlier to give it some context. But look! The Kardashians aren't just into themselves this year, they always do krazy khristmas kards!!! Oh those Kardashians!

Oh my glee

I mean...you guys...

Seriously? Seriously??? After being underwhelmed by Glee this entire 2nd half of the season, (Don't get me wrong, I still love love but it has just been seeming flat and rather forced, no?) last night felt like a BOMBSHELL.

I think it might have been one of the best theatrical moments on television I've ever witnessed (excluding the entire first 3 seasons of the West Wing). Idina Menzel/Lea Michele/I Dreamed A Dream duet as mother/ daughter? Could anything in the entire world be more perfect? It was sheer and utter perfection. Look at the totally jacked bootleg video of it I found below!

Top Chef D.C.!!!!!

The Top Chef Season 7 contestants/city/judges were just announced!!!!!! This year the 15 contestants will be competing in Washington D.C.!!!! And Eric Ripert is judging!

I love exclamation points!!!!!!

Every time a new city is announced, Carli and I like to try and guess the challenges they might do. For instance, in Chicago I guessed they would have to build a new version of a deep dish pizza, update the classic Vienna Beef hot dog and go to a Cubs game. I don't think they had to do any of those thing..I don't really remember.

Anyway!!! I wonder what they'll do for D.C.?? How cool would it be if they went to the White House??!! I'm guessing they're going to be have to:

-Cater a meal for a senate session
-Lobby to get healthier food in school lunches, then cook a healthy school lunch (oh wait didn't they already do something like that once?)
- Serve a meal at a museum party
- Do something on the Mall- I don't know what.
- Cook an entire meal using pre-colonial ingredients and supplies hahah

What are your guesses? Leave comments!!

PS- I just cheated a little and saw on the Bravo website what some of the challenges are:
"The chefs take over the concession stands at the Nationals stadium, go inside the CIA's closely guarded headquarters and literally receive out of this world direction on one challenge from a NASA astronaut orbiting Earth."
OMG I'm so excited.

Yes, please

These little gems are hanging up at my subway stop. Every time I get off the train I want to do a little dance with excitement. Picture me doing a little leprechaun jig during rush hour because I saw a United State of Tara poster. Ya, it happened.
