Tea and crumpets

There are some things in life that make me fall over and squeal like a little girl. There are the obvious (sparkles. puppies. babies.) and don't even get me started on those little mini corn on the cobs that come in my salad... I literally die over those.

But I have to admit that lately I've been an embarrassing...probably shouldn't be admitting this on the internet...squealing mess about...THE ROYAL WEDDING. Ohh myy god everything about it gets me excited. I squeal then I giggle then I follow it up with approximately 30 minutes of intense google searching to see what Kate has worn recently. (Did you see that sheer black plunging neck line she wore to a friend's wedding? And those shoes!!)

I love her taste, I love her in Diana's ring, I love how happy they look together.

Sometimes when I'm bored I picture the couple riding around in horse drawn carriages with king charles cavaliers on their laps on their way to friendly polo matches where Kate sits side-saddle in a very big dress.

Funny, that's exactly how I prefer to spend my weekends.

If I was a princess-to-be we would be best friends. We'd go shopping together and have afternoon tea together and subtly push the fashion boundaries together while dishing about Peaches Geldorf's latest scandalous dalliance with Sir Henric van Licterstein (quick what movie reference??).

I've already gone this far with publicly embarrassing myself with these princess fantasies so I might as well admit that I found a royal wedding countdown app for my phone. It was 99 cents. And I totally bought it.

I'll report back if I end up buying one of those commemorative wedding plates off of QVC.

Midday inspiration

I heart NY

I often fantasize about the blog post I will write describing my love for New York. Yes, from time to time, I tease you with silly iphone photos that hastily show the little things I love about this city. But, no no…I’m talking a mother of all posts…a pièce de résistance of Glitter Me This, a pillar of my writing career. This will be a full-blown love letter to NYC that I will then obviously submit to New York Magazine. They’d take one read of the literary work of genius and declare that I must work for them. Tomorrow. Not a day to be wasted. Obviously.

Seriously, this is what I fantasize about…that’s normal.

But unfortunately for you (and the entire roster of New York magazine subscribers?) today is not that day. Instead please enjoy this story I produced back in December as a video love letter to the city during the holidays. I think it’s rather adorable if I do say so myself and I figured I should show it to you...ohhhh before February. As always- if the embedded video’s quality sucks (which it usually does) go to this link to watch it from our video on demand player.

"In a city so quick and so anonymous- there’s a sense we’re in it together. It’s as if we’re all in on the secret…that this is the greatest place on earth."

Award winning post coming soon? Ya ok.

If you're happy and you know it

Clap yo hands.

Boo boo bop

Ok so this isn't really a real post. I just wanted to say hi. I have so much to write (a first of the year glitto' pup featuring my puppy-cousin, trip recaps, christmas recaps, new years recaps, binge eating recaps...to name a few) but alas I'm busy. Blindingly busy. Mega busy. The busyness was starting to make me feel like I was spinning so I solved that problem by anchoring my head with a huge plaid snow cap (complete with fur ear flaps). I'm wearing it to work today. It's a hit. I look stylish and yet practical.

I'm rambling right now because the little (1) next to the 2011 on the right side of the page is making me have a panic attack and get all clammy and fidgety. I just want to talk to you. But I don't have time. I'm very busy. And very distracted by the giant fur cap on my head.

One last word of ramble before we say goodbye: I have a girl crush on the main Shopbop model. She's a little too skinny for my taste but seriously I have never seen anyone look so good in every single thing they put on (probably why they hired her?). I often profess my love to her and today's photo had me going gaga (I may or may not have talked to the screen out loud "I love you shop bop, you're so beautiful") Look at how great she looks in every outfit!! Honeymoon in Bali in Missoni pants? Yes please.

Pointless blog ramble. La la la.

I AM BACK IN TOWN (and the crowd goes wild!)

I'm celebrating my homecoming with a certain youtube video that has been on repeat in my office for ohhhh going on 3 hours.

Yes, my obsession continues...

Just call us the Griswolds: Part

Ohhh on the road again, I just can't wait to be on the road again

Mom bought Dad an MU Snuggie at Walgreens.

We also bought a book light which she couldn't figure out how to use...so she decided to clip it to her glasses for maximum lighting effectiveness.

After that got uncomfortable she clipped it to the handle in the car and settled in for a rousing read of the top chef cookbook.

St. Louis was just lovely. I basically spent 48 hours squeezing my Pawpaw and Auntie Cathy without letting go. I think they started getting uncomfortable but I couldn't help myself, they're so cute and smooshy.

My mom and her sista, Auntie Cathy, looking very festive by the Christmas tree at some restaurant.

You should see my Pawpaw. Ok allow me to show you:

I know. Could you die? I love him so much. Here we are hanging out at the family business: Block Loan and Jewelry which he's owned for 50 years.

(I would link to a video I posted a few months ago where he was featured on a St. Louis local news story about the store's anniversary but I don't know how to link on my phone... so do yourself some good and go Glitter Me This exploring and watch it.)

The store isn't exactly in a good area of St. Lou, (it freaks me out considering the city was recently named the most dangerous in the US) BUT he has really hilarious, loyal customers.

One woman was telling me about how she's known Pawpaw since she was little and how the whole neighborhood has my grandpa's back and how they'll protect him from anything.

This sentiment was followed by a 5 minute tirade about how KoolAid just isn't the same as it used to be. She used to only need one cup of sugar and now she swears she needs two. The woman in line behind her was equally as upset. I almost went into a whole Gwyneth Paltrow inspired speech about the devastating effects of artificial sweeteners on our natural sweetness receptors but I figured there is a time and place for that. And purple KoolAid just isn't the time. No sir ree bob.
