Lovely Zooey

She can even make a cotton commercial sweet and lovely. This commercial is so pretty, I love it.

Terrified

Holy Moly, this morning I went to Queens for the first time. It's a shame that my first adventure had to be one of the most ghetto experiences of my life- I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at you the same, Queens.

I lost my drivers license a while ago and a very nice person returned it to the Queens Police Department for me. Why Queens? I'm not sure, but it was very nice. So I had to go fetch my little driver's license...because I'm an idiot and put things in my pockets instead of in my purse...in Queens. The walk from the subway was terrifying and dirty and terrifying some more. And this is all at 8:30am. I like to think of myself as a pretty un-scared new New Yorker but I think that's just because I hadn't walked to the police station in Queens.

So what I didn't really think about was that the Property Claims Department of the Queens Police Station means where people collect their belongings after they are released from jail. There was a large chain link and concrete wall that separated a large room. On one side of the wall was me and the nice lady behind the plexi-glass window, on the other side were the NEWLY RELEASED PRISONERS COLLECTING THEIR BELONGINGS. I saw an officer walk in with this huge bag of cigarettes, obviously confiscated contraband from the prison. Ya...

The women in front of me in line was trying to get the $200 out of her boyfriends "account" but she couldn't because he was in jail for felony drug trafficking- she was notttt happy and yelling at me about it. I got my ID and literally ran the 15 minutes back to the train. Peace out, Queens.

Throwback Thursday

My all time favorite.

Do you remember the Zeek the plumber episode? Oh my god. I was scared of that for years.

Listen to the music as the show comes back from commercial- how familiar does that sound? I can like picture myself laying in the living room watching this.

Glitt'o Pup of the Day

Reasons I hate my brother right now: he gets to eat my mom's cooking, drive in the convertible in along the coast, hang out with my parents and sleep with the softest, cutest, fluffiest, smooshiest babygirl golden retriever I've ever seen. Look this face!!!!!!

It's just madness

Tminus 1 hour until March Madness officially begins!!!!!! Look, I'm spreading the basketball cheer all around the office!

My picks:

Let's gooo Hawks!

Let's have a repeat of '08 shall we?

Dare to Bear

Will you please just look at what my favorite bear-loving, reality tv producing, hottie friend Eric did? These mildly disturbing bits of AMAZINGNESS are published in the current issue of VICE and feature the best of the best of the bear gay community here in NYC. Look at that face! Don't you just want to squeeze him and pinch his cheeks? Check out Eric's ferosh blog Knuckle Crack.

Cutest lil' runt of the litter I've ever seen

It's showtime

Weekend of rain (crazy, crazy, are we in a hurricane? rain) meant weekend of shows (with Ben!!!). My pictures to come later...I don't have my camera to upload right now.

Obsessed with Alice and Wonderland. Ob-sess-ed. I want to see it five more times in IMAX 3D. Burton balanced real life and wonderland life perfectly. I loved the costumes, the acting, minus Anne Hathaway- it's like she watched Amy Adams film clips from Enchanted, tried to copy her and failed miserably) and the incredible attention to detail that was evident in every scene. I loved loved it. Who wants to see it again with me?

Billy Elliot was great. The dancing was obviously beautiful, but we weren't blown away. I think I was still riding the high from In The Heights the week before.

An Education- my mom has been trying to get us to see this forever and now I know why. This film was GORGEOUS so raw and beautiful. Amazing screenplay and even more amazing acting. I think I fell in love with Carey Mulligan a little bit.

THEN my brother introduced me to the 30 for 30 film series on HBO. ESPN describes the project as:
An unprecedented documentary series featuring thirty films from some of today’s finest storytellers. Each filmmaker will bring their passion and personal point of view to their film detailing the issues, trends, athletes, teams, rivalries, games and events that transformed the sports landscape from 1979 to 2009.
Basically I was up until 3am mesmerized. I'm going to go as far as to say Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. (And I hate the NBA). Now I'm obsessed with the 30 for 30 project. Here is a great article about the project from the always amazing Bill Simmons.
