Side note

The last post has got me looking at the Urban website. I WANT THIS. Right now. Please. (or something like that...like a wrap watch of some kind- gold-leather..Mom are you reading this? cough cough) Subtly has never really been my strong suit.

Feelin' the Bop

I've always had a special place in my heart for ShopBop- I think it's because it reminds me of Sarah Rosenbloom and that just makes me smile. The best part about ShopBop in my opinion is the editorial-style spreads they send out. It's like my inbox is filled with a little bit of happiness each day. I was particularly inspired by today's email. God I'm craving a giant gold watch (or how about this bad boy?) And a sequin skirt. Mmmmmm. Sequins.

Sloth balls

One time I was told I look like a sloth when playing the "what animal do you look like?" game. I can't decide if that's better or worse than looking like a rodent because that's the other one I get told all the time. God that game is always so funny. One time we decided Rabinowitz looks like a koala. Cracks me up every time I think about it.

Thanks for the vid, Rachy. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY Birthday my little cupcake!!

Glitt'o Pup of the Day

Sometimes I close my eyes and I picture a world where puppies are softer than clouds and they don't make a sound and just sit in your arms and smile and act happy. Then I met Sebastian and all my dreams came true.

You guys, this dog is perfection. PERFECTION. I am having a hard time typing because I keep fighting the urge to make hand gestures and squealy sounds while talking about him. Allow me describe. Jackie got a puppy for graduation. His name is Sebastian. Exhibit A:

Jackie and her new baby

This picture doesn't really do justice to how soft he really is. Picture the softest thing on the planet (aka my dog Sophie's ears) then multiply that by 100. Saby (or Bass- we can't quite nail down the nickname) is 4 months old. He is so floppy and adorable and PERFECT. He doesn't make a sound, he doesn't bark or whimper. He literally just smiles and flops and hops and smiles. One of the cutest moments of the night was when he hopped over a puddle. I wish I had a video.

I did get this video though!

The best part about him is how sleepy he is because he's still a little teeny baby. We took him to dinner with us and had to put him on the other side of the partition where we were sitting because the outdoor patio didn't allow dogs. (let me get this straight New York, you can bring dogs in grocery stores and dry cleaners and nail salons but you can't have them sit at your feet in the outdoor seating area? Pishaw) So little Sebastian had to sit next to us on the other side of the fence. Everyone was stopping because he was so adorable and every time someone bent down, he wanted to be picked up. Because he's a baby little teeny baby.
So I couldn't take it anymore and I went and picked him up. 30 seconds later he was dead asleep in my arms and didn't move for 30 minutes. We didn't realize all he wanted to do was go to sleep!!!

Sleeping baby

He is such a cuddler that he wasn't comfy sleeping on the ground!!! He kept nuzzling into my neck and trying to bury himself into my arms (I'm doing the hand gesture, squealy noise thing again eeeee). He kept having puppy dreams and waking himself up. God, I'm in love. PS- Jackie and Lauren, I'm moving in.

Construction

PS- what do you think about the wider Glitter Me This format/ larger text? Would you rather the text be smaller? It was starting to hurt my eyes, what do you think?

Straight productivity

My bff at work did my nails for me during lunch. Pretty fun, huh?

We were going for zebra print-esque. I insisted on glitter streaked so it took away a little from the zebra look but ooo ooo sparkles.

Oh my glee

I mean...you guys...

Seriously? Seriously??? After being underwhelmed by Glee this entire 2nd half of the season, (Don't get me wrong, I still love love but it has just been seeming flat and rather forced, no?) last night felt like a BOMBSHELL.

I think it might have been one of the best theatrical moments on television I've ever witnessed (excluding the entire first 3 seasons of the West Wing). Idina Menzel/Lea Michele/I Dreamed A Dream duet as mother/ daughter? Could anything in the entire world be more perfect? It was sheer and utter perfection. Look at the totally jacked bootleg video of it I found below!

Drum roll please!

Please let me introduce to you my baby. She is quiet and nice and barely cries.

Ok just kidding. But here is my project that I've been working on for months. Let me explain how it works. What you're seeing is a weekly events calendar. I pick 2 events from each of the 5 boroughs and combine them in one cute little 2minute piece called NYC 4 Free. Everyone here loved what I did so much that it is going to be broadcast 3 times a day AND IN CABS!!

So basically I went all over NYC and the boroughs and filmed a million different shots of this white canvas. Then I had the graphics department add the events to that canvas. I will mix and match the shots I use each week so it will always look different. The shots from this week are pretty cool but just WAIT until you see what I filmed in Times Square. Two words for you: Naked Cowboy.

Note: this is in the baby stages- there are still some major tweaks to be done (especially to the opening) but I just couldn't wait any longer to show you!

Check it out on the NYCTV website as well for a complete list of this week's event.

Always making me smile

Improv Everywhere! My favorite team of smile-makers just came out with their latest "stunt" and video to go along. Smile!

Glitt'o Pup of the Day

I think the proposal video from earlier has got me all emotional today- perfect excuse for a Glitt'o Pup!!!

This collection of adorable pics is entitled: Babysitter (Thanks, Mom!)

So much squishiness and cuteness and squeezable-ness all combined.

OH- and big news on the Glitt'o Pup front! Once of GMT's most loyal readers, Miss Jackie Gruskin, just got a puppy. Sebastian!! Get excited for that post coming soon.

Melting

I'm hysterically crying at my desk right now.

Hormones or possibly the most incredible proposal of all times? You tell me.

Currently accepting applications for adorable and creative boyfriends.... just sayin'...

Top Chef D.C.!!!!!

The Top Chef Season 7 contestants/city/judges were just announced!!!!!! This year the 15 contestants will be competing in Washington D.C.!!!! And Eric Ripert is judging!

I love exclamation points!!!!!!

Every time a new city is announced, Carli and I like to try and guess the challenges they might do. For instance, in Chicago I guessed they would have to build a new version of a deep dish pizza, update the classic Vienna Beef hot dog and go to a Cubs game. I don't think they had to do any of those thing..I don't really remember.

Anyway!!! I wonder what they'll do for D.C.?? How cool would it be if they went to the White House??!! I'm guessing they're going to be have to:

-Cater a meal for a senate session
-Lobby to get healthier food in school lunches, then cook a healthy school lunch (oh wait didn't they already do something like that once?)
- Serve a meal at a museum party
- Do something on the Mall- I don't know what.
- Cook an entire meal using pre-colonial ingredients and supplies hahah

What are your guesses? Leave comments!!

PS- I just cheated a little and saw on the Bravo website what some of the challenges are:
"The chefs take over the concession stands at the Nationals stadium, go inside the CIA's closely guarded headquarters and literally receive out of this world direction on one challenge from a NASA astronaut orbiting Earth."
OMG I'm so excited.

Obsessing

I should probably start out by saying I really love New York. Generally, it's a borderline obsession. I've learned to embrace it all- the good, the bad and the ugly. I love the homeless man who sits on my corner and the steaming sewer grates, the endless piles of trash bags lining the streets and sometimes even the dirty subway station. Safe to say, I think I can handle most of the negatives of New York...

HOWEVER

My beloved New York does not have a Target. Ok fine, there is one uptown (Bronx maybe?) and one in Brooklyn but they suck. They suck so bad. They are basically small-ish stores with the Target name on the front and Target priced items but with none of the clothes or cute things you go to Target for. Take those things away and you're basically just left with overpriced dish soap- and if that's the case- I'd rather go to K-Mart.

I'm getting to a point with all of this, I promise. So there is this pair of shoes that I am so obsessed with it's becoming a problem. They are the Cynthia Vincent collection for Target and they are only sold in stores. These beautiful caramel colored wedges (FOR $29.99) have basically become the holy grail for shoe lovers. They are sold out throughout the country- according to the Target website- there is not one pair available in the entire state of California. I want them and I want them bad. Last night I met a girl who was wearing them and made her let me take a picture of her feet: I'm crazy.

So...to my Glitter Me This readers throughout the country, many of whom live oh so close to fantastic-large-sparkly Targets, I have an offer for you. Give me your zip code and I'll see if the shoes are sold in your area- you pick them up for me, I'll pay for the shoes, shipping AND I'll pay you $50 for your efforts. Doesn't that sound great? It's really a win-win!

In the meantime, I'll just be sitting here in my beautiful Target-less city waiting for your call.

Majorly Manischewitz

It's 3am. I just got home, drunk, starving. Ready for what I'm bingeing on right now?

Leftover matzo from passover
Leftover macaroons from passover
1 Cheese Blintz

Literally... could I get any more Jewish? This is what happens when you don't have anything unhealthy in your kitchen and all you want is something carb-y.

So totally pathetic and I'm loving every bite :)

Surprise! Surprise!

Fresh off the plane. Bloody Mary? Don't mind if I do.

Mother's Day was a hit at the Wilinsky house this year- I surprised my mom and flew in for the weekend. This was a pretty impulsive decision- I found a good deal online last week and decided it was too good to pass up.

I got great suggestions from everyone on how to best do the big reveal. BUT I ended up missing my flight on Friday night and screwed the whole thing up (don't ask me how I did this, I don't want to talk about it). Picture me hysterically crying at the Frontier Airlines gate wailing "pleaseeee there has to be something you can do pleaseeeee." ANYWAY, I got in on Saturday morning. My Dad had blindfolded my Mom on the way to the airport but then my flight got in late so they had to go inside and wait- so she just sat there in baggage claim knowing that someone was coming in but didn't know who. Minorly anti-climactic but that's neither here nor there.

The main thing to take away from this trip was...note to self: DO NOT TRY TO SURPRISE MOM. SHE DOES NOT LIKE IT.

It all started because Dad told her she had to cancel her hair appointment that was on Saturday (a very hard to schedule, very big deal hair appointment) because of "a big surprise." What came next was 5 days of sheer panic. I literally thought she was going to develop an ulcer with "What can we possibly be doing?".... "I don't like surprises, I don't like surprises, what are we doing?" and most importantly "WHAT DO I WEAR!??"

The issue of misdressing for the surprise became almost too much for her to bare. What if she wore heels and a small purse to Sea World? Or what if she wore comfy sneakers and a big purse to a Carole King concert? "Are we going in a hot balloon?" "WHAT DO I WEAR TO A HOT AIR BALLOON!!??"

It all obviously ended up just fine- she was over the moon with me surprising her and it turned out it didn't matter if she wore heels or sneakers or a gigantic purse :) We had the best, best, best time.
Saturday- lovely day spent at Del Mar beach. Sunday was brunch on the water, shopping and ribs for dinner! Didn't take pictures :(

Beach puppy.

Funniest picture ever. I'm not naked I promise, Sophie is though.

More pics to come when I get them off my camera.

Beach! Excuse my mom- she looks like she's literally making out with me in this video and it makes me slightly uncomfortable as I'm sure it does you. But she's so cute it doesn't matter.

Best Mother's Day evaaaaaaaa!!

Let's keep this video theme going...

Some mayyy-jor posts are coming your way people. I have to gather my thoughts, chug a couple more iced coffees and bask in the glory that was my whirlwind trip to San Diego to surprise my Ma (it was a wonderful success). In the meantime, let's keep with the theme of the past week of posts- here's a couple more videos for your viewing pleasure!!

Don't love Coldplay but this video is unbelievable. Me and Dave sat at work for too long to admit trying to decipher if this was really chalk on the ground or if this was animated afterwards- the verdict is Chris Martin was definitely swimming on the ground but that the animations were added after. We don't actually know for sure though- still so cool.

Watch this and try not to be mesmirized. I can't get enough of the subtle story line.

San Diego recap coming up soon!!

Don't stop make it pop, DJ blow my speakers up

Editors note: I'm so sick right now and it's taking me forever to blog- I keep catching crazy typos (I'm straight up not speaking coherently) so fair warning I forfeit responsibility for the literary integrity of the next few posts.

This was quite possibly the best weekend I've had in months.

+
Friday night saki bombing/sushi/ dancing (maybe?) with some of my favorite people.

+

Saturday spent lounging in Central Park with my homegirls, eating mango, A-trak dance party in Chinatown and KAT'S BIRTHDAAAY.

Sunday- Rada and I grabbed our rollerblades, Liz rented a bike and it was completely EPIC. We skated all over town!! I have now discovered the glory that is the NYC bike lane.

The best part of the day was definitely the portable iHome that I brought to put on Liz's handlebars- we danced our way throughout the whole city!

Pre skating- Rada hates 14th street...

I was planning on taking a better video of the skating but I forgot..I wanted you to see the prettiness of the Westside Highway and Rada on her skates so this will have to do!

Crazy, crazy, crazy week again and I'm sick. Who wants to guest post for me!?
