Haiti

It's been two days and the death toll from the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti is estimated between 40,000 and 50,000 people according to AP reports this afternoon. When situations like this happen it always makes me think about how the media would be covering it were happening somewhere else. If Haiti wasn't such a poor country would we have breaking news alerts every hour? Would our regularly scheduled programming be interrupted to discuss developments in the situation? The story has undoubtably been dominating the news for the past two days, as it should...I just wonder how much bigger it could be covered. CNN gave it its own bulleted section, I guess I shouldn't be complaining.
